Jakarta, Indonesia – May 18, 2025 – The Jakarta Komodos Rugby Football Club (JKRFC) proudly announces IMR Resources as the title sponsor for the IMR Jakarta Komodos Rugby 10’s 2025 Tournament, held on May 17, 2025, at GBK Rugby Field in Jakarta. Now the largest single-day rugby tournament in Southeast Asia, the event featured top teams from Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Timor Leste, Singapore, and Malaysia showcasing intense competition and community spirit.
IMR Resources, a global leader in natural resources, supplies responsibly sourced raw materials for the global steel and power industries, while prioritising sustainability and community empowerment. Though international in scope, IMR is a family-led business with a personal connection to rugby—both of the founder’s sons grew up playing and loving this bone-crunching sport, from school days through university and club level. The values they learned on the field—teamwork, discipline, resilience—continue to resonate through the company’s culture. This partnership aligns naturally with JKRFC’s mission to foster grassroots development through rugby
“We are honored to partner with IMR Resources, whose dedication to ethical impact and community upliftment mirrors the spirit of rugby,” said Kyle Larson, Chairman of the Jakarta Komodos RFC Senior Section. “Their support elevates the IMR Jakarta Komodos Rugby 10’s 2025 Tournament to new heights, ensuring an unforgettable experience for players, spectators, and the wider community. Together, we’re set to make this the most memorable tournament yet, reinforcing its status as Southeast Asia’s premier single-day rugby event.
The tournament included Men’s Open 10s, Veterans 10s, and Women’s 7s, hosted at the GBK Rugby Field; a venue with a storied Asian Games history. The crowds were treated to thrilling matches, delicious food & drinks, music, and post-tournament festivities. IMR’s involvement reflects its commitment to social impact, particularly in Indonesia where IMR operates through:
“We’re proud to support an event that brings people together through sport and shared values,” said Anirudh Misra, Chairman of IMR Resources. “Indonesia has become a meaningful part of our journey, and supporting rugby here feels like a natural extension of our family’s long-standing love for the game.”
Founded in 1971, JKRFC promotes rugby across Indonesia, with over 200 players and youth programs for underprivileged communities. The tournament, supported by Persatuan Rugby Union Indonesia, is expected to surpass 2024’s crowd, reinforcing its status as a top Asian rugby fixture. The free-to-attend event drew a crowd of over 1,000 spectators
