Excitement Builds Ahead of Bali Junior Rugby 7s Tournament in September

After the run-away success of the inaugural Bali Junior Rugby 7s Tournament, interest in claiming the final spots in six age group categories for the 2018 edition in September is rapidly heating up.

The Jakarta Komodos Junior Rugby Club is again hosting the incredible event at Finns Recreation Club in upmarket Canggu on September 22-23.

In addition to showcasing some of the best junior rugby in the Asia-Pacific region, including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Australia, calls are going out for sponsorship opportunities.

As well as Finns, Bali’s premier sporting and entertainment venue, including a water park, the Komodos are pleased to announce that Aston Canggu Beach Resort is offering exceptional family discounts to all tournament participants.

Superior rooms start from US$100 per night, including buffet breakfasts, Wifi, and gym and pool facilities. Dulux Ocean View units are just $150.

Bali Junior Rugby Tournament 2018 coordinator Johaness Spies said 22 boys, girls and mixed teams had already registered, including 13 from outside Indonesia.

“We are expecting additional rugby teams from Japan and Thailand, as well as development teams from throughout Indonesia – both girls and boys – so we are aiming for 36 teams this year,” Spies said.

“The sport of rugby is growing rapidly internationally, from Olympic level to the Asian and Southeast Asian games and we are confident that our tournament in Bali is world-class – register now.”

The Bali Rugby Tournament had a core focus on providing a safe, enjoyable environment for junior rugby players, regardless of size, shape, skill, gender or background.

“We have been developing junior rugby in Indonesia for more than a decade and we are proud of what we have accomplished in Bali,” Spies said.

“To the junior rugby community, please help us take our tournament to the next level. We guarantee everyone – kids, parents and supporters – the best little rugby tournament in Southeast Asia.”

Games finish at midday Sunday.
